We Already Know These 6 Boot Trends Will Be Huge This Season

Plenty of boot trends are already popping up among the fashion set right now. But it's runways that are giving us insight into which silhouettes early adopters of trends will wear next year. With many boot-wearing months upon us, I've been curious about the styles emerging on the runways, so I dove into the collections deeper to see the exact boots trends we can expect to gain steam as we look to the year ahead.

Many trends echo what we're already seeing on the style set, including the knee-high sock boots and Western-inspired shapes that have been soaring in popularity recently. Other styles, such as satin boots, feel fresh and outside the current fashion conversation. However, designers made a strong case for all these styles, so we can expect to see them pick up soon. Here are the six boot trends set to be big this season.

Western-inspired boots have been gaining traction, most notably with Khaite's Dallas boots, which have become a cult buy in recent years. If you're thinking of investing in a pair, you can rest assured that the trend is only growing. They were everywhere on the spring/summer 2023 runways, including Ralph Lauren's collection.

Knee-High Sock Boots

Sock boots are fairly divisive, but I can't ignore their comeback. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a personal fan, and there's a pair of Gia Borghini sock boots in my wardrobe. In the past, we've seen many variations, but this season, it will be all about the knee-high silhouette. That being said, we can expect to see everything from open-toe thong versions, as seen at Miu Miu, to flat Chelsea styles, as spotted at Jil Sander.

Lace-up boots were a trend overall on the spring/summer 2023 runways, but combat-boot variations are the silhouette to know. Ludovic de Saint Sernin had a pair that particularly stood out, which I guarantee will be a cult buy next year.

Satin Boots

One of the most surprising boot trends of the season? Satin boots. That is why they are one of the most noteworthy, in this editor's opinion. We aren't currently seeing many satin boot styles on the market, but with the endorsement of brands such as Sportmax and Jil Sander, they're set to be big.

Modern Rain Boots

Over the last several years, we've seen many interpretations of directional rain boots, including the Bottega Veneta Puddle Boots that rose to cult status. This season, rain boots have been reimagined with modern shapes, sleeker designs, and wavy soles. Practical shoes have never looked so cool.

Faux-Animal Boots

While you could name faux-animal boots as a classic, there is no ignoring their prominence on the spring/summer 2023 runways. Low-key luxury with a touch of grit, these definitely fit into the fashion aesthetic we're seeing take shape for next year.
