I Found 5 Airport Outfits That Are Cool, Comfortable, and On-Trend

Many years ago, when flying still felt novel, dressing for the airport was an event. For instance, my grandmother always wore her best suit and heels, and you better believe her hair and makeup were done. Since flying has become commonplace, the standards of dress have drastically changed. Comfort is at the forefront of almost everyone's minds, but even if full glam is no longer the norm, looking fresh is still a top priority.

The best airport style, in my opinion, is cozy enough to allow for some shuteye on the plane but chic enough that I don't have to change when I arrive at my destination. Sportier styles, which I don't need to tell you have been on-trend for some time now, lend themselves particularly well to travel. A good coat or blazer over comfy basics is laid back but still looks like you put in some effort.

So, if you need a little inspiration for how to dress the next time you brave the TSA security line, keep reading. Five cool yet comfortable airport outfit ideas from some of my favorite fashion people are just a scroll away.

1. A Blazer Over Jeans and a T-Shirt

Admittedly, this look could be worn anywhere, but it feels especially elevated when worn while waiting at baggage claim. Layering when you fly is key (Why do they keep those planes so cold?), so an understated blazer often comes in handy.

2. A Monochrome Sweatshirt and Leggings with Trainers and Socks

Leggings with a sweatshirt is a go-to airport fit for many, but wearing them in similar neutral tones takes the look up a notch. I'm particularly partial to the sage color seen here.

3. An Oversize Trench with a Baseball Cap and Jeans

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: a good coat can make your outfit. Period. This oversized trench lends your standard T-shirt and jeans a cool factor.

4. A Breezy Button-Down Shirt, Baggy Jeans, and a Structured Purse

Pairing a relaxed button-down shirt with jeans feels very French and chic, so it's no wonder the simplicity of this outfit works so well on travel days. Finish the look with a pair of get-me-to-the-gate sneakers, and you're golden.

5. High-Waisted Leggings With a Sports Bra, Shrug and Uggs

Prefer to live in activewear? This look's for you. Wearing a sports bra on a plane might not be for the faint of heart, but if you're headed off somewhere outdoorsy, it'll leave you ready for almost anything.
